Hello everyone

It's been some time that i'm asking myself this question, is translating everything translate in a document is normal if the client don't say anything. I mean, imagine that you are translating a website and in the sectors/divisions/projects/products list, they are 9 names. And 8 of them are in this weird language that you doubt even exist in this world and only one is translate.
What to do in this case? Leave everything as it was or translate the only one ?

Hello everyone

It's been some time that i'm asking myself this question, is translating everything translate in a document is normal if the client don't say anything. And 8 of them are in this weird language that you doubt even exist in this world and only one is translate.
What to do in this case? Leave everything as it was or translate the only one ?

And what if the name is mixed like : TCY Gold Yellow system managment (i can only translate "system managment")

And the last one but the more important, what about the acronym ? For example:

(EN) AZEK Yellow Pose Project (AYPP) gives (FR) Projet AZEK Yellow Pose (PAYP)

In general, my client tells me what do. But after talking with two of my translators friend who by the way are still "debating" of this, i'm turning to you.

What is for you the normal thing to do in this case?

Good morning, Marina.

In Spanish, your example

(EN) AZEK Yellow Pose Project (AYPP)

would be translated as

(ES) AZEK Yellow Pose Project (AYPP),

because these names are considered as proper nouns and thus not to be translated, and the acronyms don't have to be translated.

I hope this helps.

So this the norm in your language, i wonder if it is the same everywhere...
