What was the most difficult translation project you ever took on?

I once translated an essay by a Japanese scholar of religion. This is an area of specialty for me, but even so this particular writer has a style that can be very hard to deal with. I imagine it is a little similar to translating Heidegger into English. The manner in which he was using language was quite creative / poetic. Playing with different senses of the word "life" in Japanese. As there are five quite distinct senses, all of which translate as "life", I had to get quite creative.
