Other options Apr 23, 2018

The topic is amusing to say the least. Good way to start the week. But the Other option should have been included.

Welder Apr 23, 2018

I can't believe the "Beach Bum" option has now overtaken the welder.

Clearly, translators and welders have a lot in common. Both work in the background doing important jobs which can make or break a project's success. Nobody takes any notice of a job well done (be it a well welded joint or a good translation), while errors and botch jobs are instantly noticed (and can have serious consequences) in both fields.

Because I work through the layers, follow clues, apply my instincts and sensibility... I feel like a crime scene investigator with excellent psychological insights.

Or maybe an archaeologist, paleontologist or any other -ist dealing with deciphering and discovering meaning in long-forgotten artifacts!

Where is "Other" or "None of the Above" Apr 28, 2018

A question like this would lead to a much more interesting discussion with the "other" option.
