But it definitely happened in the past. The other way around is also interesting: I can remember some cases where I got the wrong file from the AGENCY, so it is not too embarrassing.
One or two years ago, I received several propositions from one client who was working with another Béatrice !! I informed the client each time !! | | | Several times | May 23, 2017 |
Usually files from the same folder as that of the intended file: mouse cursor Parkinson fit, processor micro-freeze, dodgy drag'n'drop, missed Ctrl+C-Ctrl+V, hangover from the night before, birds chirping too loudly... It's neither me, nor myself, nor I. But recipients are usually very prompt to let you know, so it's not life-threatening. If I worked with faceless machines, portals, systems, C3POs or HAL platforms, it could be more of a problem. Luckily, I don't. ... Not the wrong file, but...no file at all. This happened a few times already. Fortunately, I noticed it as soon as it "was too late", and sent the attached file with an apology.

I did it once several years ago, and the PM responded with "is this is a joke?", which was quite disconcerting. Why would anyone do that on purpose - send the wrong file? When I was younger and starting out in corporate life, I sometimes sent a "see attached" message, followed by "...can you please actually send the file" response. That's why modern email programs alert you to this and give you an 'oops, did you forget something' reminder. There is no excuse for sending... When working in several projects for several clients at once, it happens sometimes. It has happened to me more than once, as well as sending the job to the wrong client (with similar names, for example). | | | Clarisa Moraña United States Local time: 08:39 Member (2002) English to Spanish + ...

A while back, as PM in an agency. I sent a file to a translator in Poland. I took the PO I had just sent to the Russian translator for the same text, and adapted it for the Polish guy. I changed the rate but forgot to change the target language to Polish. So he sent me the translation into Russian... Total panic on board! I ended up phoning him while the boss was on the phone himself, explained my mistake and admitting that it was all my fault and asked if he could quickly rustle up... I changed the rate but forgot to change the target language to Polish. So he sent me the translation into Russian... Total panic on board! I ended up phoning him while the boss was on the phone himself, explained my mistake and admitting that it was all my fault and asked if he could quickly rustle up the Polish translation and not bill for the Russian otherwise I'd be in big trouble. He agreed, after all we were among his best customers. He also took the opportunity to explain that in fact he had his own agency, specialising in Eastern languages, which is why he was able to provide Russian, and acknowledged that he could have checked in that we had never asked him for anything but Polish. I showed his Russian translation and that of our usual Russian translator to the colleague who usually proofread Russian, and she said the Polish guy had provided a much better text. A hefty job into Russian arrived just days after this and I promptly sent it to the Polish guy, telling him he'd be getting all our jobs into Russian from now on because he was both a decent person and good at finding good Russian translators. ▲ Collapse | | | Pages in topic: < [1 2] | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Poll: Have you ever attached the wrong file when delivering a translation?
