I have the Danish Special Language Diploma. It is the equivalent of one year's work + a specialist subject, while the MA takes two years' work. There is no MA thesis for the diploma, and it does not include interpreting, as the MA would. The Dip. Trans. held by many translators is also a postgraduate diploma, but not actually a degree.
I graduated in linguistic mediation and then attended a postgraduate course in specialised translation, but after 18 years spent on books I still want to take my MA, specifically in International relations (my childhood dreamjob was working for the UN - I was quite an ambitious child )... I just hope I will manage to get it!

Don't be deceived by the lengthy period: I finished my coursework within 18 months, but I needed time to write my thesis. I'm still friends and in touch with my thesis advisor, who volunteered to supervise my thesis due to the unusual topic.
