Hello! Customer provided a password protected word file, I do have the password.

Now I am having difficulty importing it into Deja Vu. I also cannot seem to save it in another format that is then not password protected or remove the password protection.

I have Word 2007, the file is a 97-2003 format.

Any ideas? Thanks.

encrypt/decrypt file Jul 10, 2012

Hi,

You may click the icon at the top left corner, then go to Word Options - Prepare - Encrypt/Decrypt file. Hope it works.

Vincent

Thanks, Vincent! I tried that but the password does not show up in the field, it is empty.

Save as Word XML, then remove the hashes... Jul 10, 2012

You can also save as Word XML and use some decent text editor kinda Notepad++ or similar.

In MS Word 2003 XML, the hash can be found after the string w:unprotectPassword, then you have an eight number value.
Replace the password hash with "00000000" (eight zeros), then unprotect the document using a blank password.

In MS Word 2007 and 2010 XML, you should simply remove the section like below:
<w:documentProtection w:edit="readOnly" w:enforcement="1"
w:cryptProviderType="rsaFull" w:cryptAlgorithmClass="hash"
w:cryptAlgorithmType="typeAny" w:cryptAlgorithmSid="4"
w:cryptSpinCount="100000" w:hash="YbweVdqHWHz3FAf+fO6/QmtaEgM="
w:salt="SbxiUfQet+xZRZaKmHU8PQ=="/>

Save back the document as Word and enjoy

Cheers
GG

The correct logical order to solve this problem should be to remove Word document password and then import the program, right? Moreover, you need to tell which Word password, read-only password or open password you need?
