"Summer is an excellent time to develop new skills. Finally plenty of time to practice something old-fashioned and get to grips with it. During lectures I regularly show the popular YouTube movie of the backward bike (https://youtu.be/MFzDaBzBlL0 ). This is a bike with a 'reversed' handlebars. If you want to go to the left, you have to go to the right. And vice versa.

At the beginning of the video, the main character always falls off his adjusted bike. But after a while he manages to keep riding. The next question I ask the students is: 'What has this man done in the meantime? And then everyone shouts in the choir: "Practise!"

A very open door, of course. But the remarkable thing is that as adults we often forget that new skills, at work or at home, require practice. We read a book or visit a course and then think that we are able to apply what has been told to us. Hardly anyone builds time into their diary to train skills.

Because the pace is a bit slower in the summer and that critical colleague is harassing other people for a few weeks, it is a good time to practice. A few suggestions:

...

4 Working with smart tools. Finally, catch up on your digital backlog.

...

In short: if you want to make extra use of the summer months in the office, think about what skill would be really useful in your work and reserve 15 minutes each day to practice. Realize that almost all new working methods lead to delay and frustration in the beginning. But if you've been training secretly for a few weeks and your colleagues come back from vacation, they don't know what's happening to them.
"

Why not give CafeTran Espresso 10 Croissant a try, this summer? It's a bit like riding a backward bike: in the beginning everything seems to be different, but in the end, you'll love it .
