There is still a misunderstanding about Trados and SDL. This leeds to questions about SDL Trados files etc.
In short: Once there was a German company named Trados and it has been bought by an English company called SDL. Trados created a companion for MS Word, the Trados Workbench (and a standalone editor: the Trados Tag Editor). SDL created a standalone editor called [...].

Why am I writing all this fascinating stuff here in the CafeTran support forum?

I'd like to respond to Samuel's call here:
CafeTran can handle all files that have been created with all incarnations of SDL Studio (up to its latest version: 2017).
CafeTran can actually also handle the old-school Trados Workbench files. You'll have to save them as MS Word DOCX and choose the import filter MS Word uncleaned:
These Trados Workbench files are also called "bilingual files" or "bilingual Trados files".
