A new update for CafeTran has been released. Segment patterns are supported now. Here is a first attempt to describe this all-new and potentially very productive technique.

I just made a very short screencast, showing how it works:
Using Segment Patterns in CafeTran (using Dragon & Vocola for voice commands)
De bron kan apart aangekocht worden van het deksel. = The source can be purchased separately from the cover.
... might not be great, because you can probably also just enter it in your glossary as follows:
de bron = the source kan apart aangekocht worden van = can be purchased separately from het deksel = the cover
But I just wanted to show an example containing two variables ("{1}" + "{2}").
Entering:
De {1} kan apart aangekocht worden van het {2} = The {1} can be purchased separately from the {2}
into your glossary will now catch and auto-translate stuff like:
De deur kan apart aangekocht worden van de kast. = The door can be purchased separately from the wardrobe. De sleutel kan apart aangekocht worden van het huis. = The key can be purchased separately from the house. De mayonaise kan apart aangekocht worden van het hamburger. = The mayonnaise can be purchased separately from the hamburger. etc.
Assuming, that is, that you have the following in your glossary as well:
deur = door kast = wardrobe sleutel = key huis = house mayonaise = mayonnaise hamburger = hamburger
