I confess, I always mix them up: Big Mama and Big Papa.
Big Mama is a name that in the CAT world often is used for one gigantic central repository of Translation Memories. You can recall this nickname easily when you remember the first letter of Mama and Memory.
Big Papa, however, is often used for a gigantic glossary, containing all terms, for all clients and subject fields that a translator has collected over the years.

For me these names are misleading (and that's perhaps the reason why I 'forget' them all the time). In many old stories, religions and even in many recent expressions (e.g. The Mother of all Wars) the feminine expression relates to the very beginning of a process or to the most important member of a category.
And this is were it starts to get interesting (at least for me ): I never work with large TMs. On the other hand, terminology is everything for me. This is very likely so because my source and target language have a very similar syntax. That's why I store much more in my glossary than many other translators.
For me CafeTran is the ideal tool for quickly adding lots of term pairs on the fly, without the need to select source and/or target terms first, without the need of deleting leading and/or trailing characters (e.g. paragraph numbering, punctuation characters). CafeTran also allows me to easily define which target term of several possible alternatives should be used for auto-translation.
Terminology is everything for me. So in my mind Big Mama is at the very beginning of my translation workflow, and she is the mother of all my terms.
