I became a ProZ.com paying member this year and it has proven to be the smartest business decision I have made in the past 10 years.

I get occasional approaches through my ProZ.com profile, which in itself makes it worthwhile, because one smallish job covers your membership fee. I also use the invoicing feature and free website hosting, so it saves me money in those areas. As others have said the Blue Board is useful and could help you avoid some major headaches. ProZ.com also has a very high rating in Google, so your profile or KudoZ questions you have asked or answered (which will link through to your profile) are likely to come up in web searches, thereby increasing your visibility.

I find ProZ.com membership really valuable because I got many good new clients around the world.

I found ProZ.com quite useful initially (the term search, KudoZ, the glossaries, etc.), but it really came into its own when I became a paying member. Now, nearly all of my jobs come through my ProZ.com profile, and through repeat requests from regular clients, and I can't remember the last time I actually bid for a job.

The Blue Board is extremely useful for filtering out undesirable clients (bad/slow payers) - a feature that is only available to full members, but it is worth its weight in gold.

My impression and experience with ProZ.com is positive. I get the majority of my clients from there. I use the services, like the Blue Board and the webinars, I watch the International Translation Day each year. I've spoken to someone from ProZ.com regarding my rates and she was very helpful. I'd say the yearly fee is totally worth it. I think ProZ.com is definitely on the side of freelancers, I think it's a great platform and I'm so glad I found it.

Most of my new clients now come from ProZ.com, and I have to say that fine-tuning my profile has generated some pretty good "matches" (clients that are willing to pay my rates for specific subject areas). I think ProZ.com is a great source of new clients and it is also hugely helpful in avoiding bad payers.

This past year has been great. I woke up one morning deciding to go back to translating full time but I was not 100% sure that my decision was the right one. I am convinced that without ProZ.com, I would never have made the contacts I need to work as a full time professional translator. Avant tout, ProZ.com représente pour moi une plate-forme d’échanges internationale permettant de côtoyer d’autres traducteurs via les forums et les formations. J’apprécie également la possibilité de pouvoir obtenir des informations sur les agences de traduction et les donneurs d’ordre en général grâce au Blue Board (certes non exhaustif, mais ô combien utile !), et de l’aide en cas de besoin avec les KudoZ. De plus, grâce à ProZ.com, j’ai trouvé un client avec lequel je travaille régulièrement : espérons que cela ne soit que le début d’une longue série!
