Tech/Engineering - Mechanics / Mech Engineering / milling and drilling
Dutch term or phrase: volboren
Another term in the auction listings for items related to milling and drilling. I don't have much context for this. The listing here is for a variety of drills in various types and sizes, including volboren.

The following link has no connection with the client, but does provide images and descriptions of volboren:

Are these called solid drills in English?

insert drills
Explanation:
Indexable drills have long been known for their cost-efficiency—but lower price tags often come at the expense of accuracy and hole quality. The CoroDrill® 880 solves this problem with unique insert geometries and a configuration that creates a balanced, step-by-step entrance into the workpiece. This reduces cutting forces to less than half of typical insert drills, and virtually eliminates deflection on entry.

agree  Jack den Haan: This seems correct to me. The term is probably a synonym for U-drill (please see my agree with Johan's answer).

U-drill bits

Explanation:
The website of the manufacturer of these drill bits is available in Turkish and English (Turkish company), and according to the website this is the U-drill system (http://www.akko.com.tr/urunler/en/drilling-and-holemaking-to...

When you click on that link to go to the U-drill system they refer to the drill bits as "U-Drills According To WCMX-WCMT Inserts". Clearly these are drill bits, hence my suggestion to translate this as "U-drill bits"

To be clear, I'm not suggesting 'U-drill bit' is the correct translation for 'volboren', instead it seems to me that the Dutch term is either an incorrect translation of the original Turkish/English term, or an incorrect term was used by the Dutch author.

agree  Jack den Haan: This is correct. See https://tinyurl.com/y8ppv6hf. The U probably stands for 'universal', in the sense of the drill being suitable for any kind of workpiece material. Just change the inserts (the yellow parts in the illustration) and Bob's your uncle.

disagree  giovanni_v: I think comes from the Turkish name, "TAKMA UÇLU MATKAPLAR", where UÇLU means something like `tipped/pointed` http://tureng.com/en/turkish-english/uçlu

-> I don't speak Turkish, so I'll take your word on that. The Turkish manufacturer of these drills calls them U-drills, however.

Reference: refs - insert drill/indexable drill

Reference information:
An indexable drill is usually a drill with an insert that has multiple edge which can be indexed (rotated) when each cutting edge wears out. Drills with single edge replaceable inserts (such as a spade drill) are often referred to as indexable drills as well.
