As a regular outsourcer attendee, I find ProZ.com conferences an excellent opportunity to bridge the "freelancer-outsourcer gap". On the one hand, I can listen to the translators' perspective at the sessions, which creates empathy, and gives me a chance to re-think workflows, vendor selection practices and/or criteria. On the other hand, I get to explain the language service providers' point of view to individual translators, which makes co-operation easier later on. As an MLV working into 40+ languages we're in desperate need of seasoned freelance translator teams and small agency vendors. ProZ.com conferences are the ideal setting for finding new partners, and to personally meet the members of our existing network of translators from around the world. Finally, I think ProZ.com is a vibrant, living community of strikingly interesting, intelligent people who are just fun to be with.

ProZ.com Regional Conference - Edinburgh

This conference was the most homogeneous I have ever attended: everyone was a freelancer. Naturally, there are benefits and disadvantages to any mix, but this was extraordinary, in that you knew that whoever you spoke to, there would be a fundamental defining feature in common. (...) here was a conference by and for and with direct counterparts.

Proz.com conferences are an opportunity to consolidate existing working relationships and to establish new ones, as well as an occasion to learn about new technologies and trends about our profession. They are also a good excuse for travelling.

As a sponsor at the Proz.com conference in Edinburgh Scotland, SDL Trados felt that there was a great buzz and energy at the conference. It was very well attended, and it gave SDL Trados the chance to communicate directly and meet face to face with a large number of potential customers. It has been very exciting to be part of ProZ.com conferences, and to be able to announce to such a relevant audience the future SDL Trados plans while receiving first hand feedback from the translators community. We attended the Budapest Conference as a first time sponsor. There was always a big crowd around our booth and we were able to distribute 150 evaluation copies of our software. From an attendees perspective we felt the conference was well organized with lots of opportunities to network.
